Soldotna Parks and Events
Yearly events in Soldotna include the Kenai River Festival. This yearly festival hosted by the Kenai Rivershed Forum has free music, food, and booths to learn more about preservation of the Kenai River. There are childrens’ activities and an annual 10K and 5K run. This event run by volunteers is a fun way to celebrate and enjoy the Kenai River.Progress Days is another yearly event that attracts visitors and locals alike. A parade, dutch oven contest, and vendor booths are just a few of the main events in this 4th of July affair.
The Tsalteshi trails in Soldotna are a great place to go year round. These trails are great for hiking and running in the summer and a welcome adventure on cross country skis in the winter. The trails are even lit up for evening ski trips.
The Soldotna Sport’s Center is a hub of year round activities. They are host to the Kenai River Brown Bears. This Junior hockey team, part of the NAHL, is in a league of 22 other teams from all over the U.S. The Soldotna Sports Center also hosts events like the yearly Relay For Life event to raise money for cancer treatment and research.
The Soldotna Creek Park is a great spot to take in the scenery or go fishing! This 5 acre park can be used for day fishing, picnics or just to soak up the wilderness. This boardwalk is also handicap accessible. Another great fishing spot in Soldotna is Rotary Park. This park by the Soldotna Municipal Airport is a day fishing area. The maintained trails are right on the Kenai River. Soldotna also has a great community schools program with art classes, recreation and even classes on how to become organized!
